An Osteometric Study on Humerus International Journal of Morphology
Aydin Kabakci,A. D; Buyukmumcu,M; Yilmaz,M. T; Cicekcibasi,A. E; Akin,D; Cihan,E.
Humerus is the longest and thickest bone of the upper limb. As a long bone, it has two epiphysis and diaphysis. In this study, we aimed to conduct morphometric measurements belonging to human humerus. This study was conducted on 60 humerus (28 right, 32 left) in collections of Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Medicine Faculty Anatomy Laboratory. Digital calipers, osteometric board and precision scales for humerus bone measurements were used. Measurements were classified as measurements of diaphysis and proximal and distal epiphysis of humerus. Each bone weight was determined. Also nutrient foramen number and localization was determined. In this study, it was determined that mean right humerus length 30.41±1.73 mm, mean left humerus length 30.04±2.39 mm....

Does the use of Testosterone Enanthate as a Form of Doping in Sports Cause Early Closure of Epiphyseal in Bones? International Journal of Morphology
Lok,Sefa.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the morphometric effects of short term usage of testosterone enanthate among the anabolic androgenic steroids used as doping by athletes on humerus bones of male rats. 30 rats (35 days) were utilized in this research. The rats were divided into three equal groups. For the experimental group (n= 10), testosterone enanthate at 10 mg/kg dose in 100 µl peanut oil diluents, for the peanut oil group (n= 10), peanut oil of testosterone enanthate' diluent (100 µl) was executed intraperitoneally 5 days in a week for 3 weeks. The control group (n= 10) was nourished without any practice for 3 weeks. All rats were euthanized end of the research. Humerus bones were exposed by the dissection of rats' front extremite bones...

Humeral chondrosarcoma in a Hokkaido brown bear (Ursus arctos yesoensis). OAK
MURAKAMI, Tomoaki; KOBAYASHI, Yoshiyasu; CHIBA, Shiori; KURAUCHI, Yuki; SAKAMOTO, Hideyuki; SASAKI, Motoki; MATSUI, Takane; 古林, 与志安; 佐々木, 基樹.
Humeral chondrosarcoma was found in an 18-year-old male Hokkaido brown bear (Ursus arctos yesoensis). Necropsy revealed a large firm mass under the left superficial pectoral muscle at the axillary region. The mass involved the left shoulder joint and peripheral muscles, and connected to the head of the humerus with osteolysis. Histopathologically, the mass was composed of irregularly shaped myxomatous to cartilaginous tumor lobules. The tumor cell showed moderate nuclear atypia with a relatively high mitotic index, especially in the edges of the myxomatous lobules. The tumor cells were positively immunostained with vimentin and S-100 protein. Based on these findings, the tumors were diagnosed as chondrosarcoma. Metastases were found in the left axillary...

Macroanatomy of the Bones of Thoracic Limb of an Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus) International Journal of Morphology
Ahasan,. S. M. Lutful; Quasem,Md. Abul; Rahman,Mohammad Lutfur; Hasan,Rubyath Binte; Kibria,A. S. M. Golam; Shil,Subrata Kumar.
Bones of forelimb were studied from a prepared skeleton of an adult female Asian elephant (Elephas maximus) in Anatomy Museum of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University to understand the morphological form and structure of Asian elephant forelimb. The angle was approximately 123 between caudal border of scapula and caudal border of humerus. The scapula, humerus and bones of the antebrachium (particularly the ulna) were massive bones. The bones of manus were the short and relatively small. The dorsal border of scapula extended from the level of proximal extremity of first rib to the middle of the 6th rib. Ventral angle of scapula articulated with humerus by elongated shaped glenoid cavity (cavitas glenoidalis) of scapula and head of humerus...

Minimally invasive osteosynthesis of humeral lateral condylar fracture using a condyle clamp: Case report in two dogs MV&Z
Rocha, A.G. Msc; Chung, D.G. Bsc1; Morato, G.O.; Lima, C.G.D.; Padilha Filho, J.G..

Successful use of autogenous bone graft for the treatment of a radius-ulna nonunion in an amputee dog Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Minto,B.W.; Prada,T.C.; Marinho,P.V.T.; Zani,C.C.; Menezes,M.P.D..
Fracture nonunions represent important complications in orthopedic surgeries. Nonunion repairs or bone defects are surgically challenging. Our aim was to describe a nonunion case, which was repaired with rapid bone recovery. An 8-month-old male mixed breed dog that has been previously operated was presented to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of São Paulo State University, with a right radius-ulna nonunion and an amputated contralateral forelimb. A cancellous bone graft was collected from a partially amputated limb, in order to correct the nonunion, and used in association with a locking plate. After four weeks, the bone graft had been incorporated into the original bone. Clinical union with good weight bearing was achieved after eight weeks.
